There's Nothing Like a Real Fire.
I have talked about lots of other things lately so I'll move on from where I left off telling you about my family and tell you about a crazy thing that happened when I was just a sparkle in my DAD's eye. I've told you that my Granda was a drinker, well he and his mates were affectionately known as the "Wine Team". "Just sets the mind going straight away doesn't it". They had an old tin baby's bath and would fill it with whatever they could get their hands on, from floor polish to gripe water was all slopped into this bath. they would sit around it with a glass and dip into it one by one. This was a regular occurrence and how my Grandmother put up with it I'll never know. This day come and after Grandfather had a skin load my Granny and my mother were going shopping, Grandfather told them he was going out after dinner and wanted dinner at 5pm sharp or he was going to burn all the furniture. Now you and I would probably have a laugh and say "whatever", but Grandmother and my Mum were dandering along the road just after 5pm when they saw smoke rising above the houses. As they got nearer they thought "christ I hope nobody has been hurt", as they turned the corner at the end of their street there was Grandfather throwing the last of the furniture on the bon-fire he had created. He was heard to shout "I told you I wanted my dinner by 5pm, now look what you've made me do". "MAD", This was'nt to be the last time he torched the the contents of the house but I'll save that for another day..
