Submariners.

Today I have a hangover, a big one. I attended the mess dinner last night and had a great time. If there is one thing that I have learned over the years is that sailors do know how to enjoy themselves. In fact all members of the Armed Forces do.

A mess dinner is a good excuse do get all dressed up in your best bib and tucker and meet people you may have lost along your career path. When I used to wear my old uniform girls would love to touch the collar for good luck. Now that I am a little older and have moved up the ladder I dont wear the old uniform anymore and I tell the girls its more lucky to touch my ass."only joking honey".

The guest speaker was an old submarine captain who reminded me and my shipmates of why we do the job we signed up for. One of the guests who was an old war veteran was still wearing his dolphins,(submarine badge)proudly above the string of meadals on is chest. My shipmates and I spent a few hours chating with the our old comrades yesterday evening and they all had a great story to tell, each one priceless.

I have been in the submarine service for 20 years and when I see men like these it reminds me of the special group of people I am part of. No matter what country a man comes from when they become submariners they are all part of a vey unique community who wear their "Dolphins" with pride.
